We are often asked how we came up with Frontier Kitchen. The simple answer is that we are just like our members; we were starting small food companies and needed a place to work and someone to help us through the maze of starting a business.

When we came up with Frontier Kitchen we realized we could make it easier for others and provide a space that would benefit everyone. As co-founders we realized we were each good at different parts of the process; as an analyst, Brenda is good on the business startup side, having written dozens of business plans and spent many years working in organizational analytics while Cassity, who has worked in the industry for more than two decades, was an expert on the operations inside the kitchen.  Those skills coupled with years of consulting with and working with our members and we know the formulas and training you need to be successful.

The internet is filled with information, some of it good and some of it bad. How do you know which advice to trust when starting your own business?  It can be tough to figure out where to start when starting a business. There’s so much information out there, and it can be hard to know which advice to trust.

frontier kitchen university is the answer

Our courses are compiled from years of success and failures, and are designed to shorten the learning curve and increase your chance of success.

OUR partners

Selling your product or service is one of the most challenging aspects of starting or growing a business. Ultimately, the target customers that you choose will have a substantial impact on how you organize your growth.

Frontier Kitchen has a number of digital and in-person platforms to help you figure out the best market for your company and, as you grow, explore opportunities to find a larger customer base than you expected.

In addition to Frontier Kitchen sponsored opportunities, we are always adding to our partnerships to find outlets for our members to sell their products. Here are just a few of the excellent local partners we work with.

Hemant Mathur
Chaat and More

Frontier kitchen is a great place for food truck/Catering companies like mine. They provide all facilities and services that are needed for a small business to grow. They have a wonderful team that manages the facility. The facility offers clean, well equipped kitchen and storage spaces. Flexible membership options and you can work anytime in the kitchen(based on your membership). They also provide online resources/portals to enhance your business.

Overall I will recommend Frontier Kitchen for any small business in food industry.

ANI Spices

I have had great experiences with the staff at Frontier Kitchen. They helped get me set up, and walked me through the VDACS paperwork to a degree that my entire operation was approved with just one edit, and only one inspection! Literally the only complaint I have is that some of the outlets in the kitchen don’t work, but there are many, and most of them do. But the point is, if this is the only problem I have with a kitchen like this, you can imagine how well everything else goes with the service. Being allowed in and out on my schedule is a great advantage to the odd hours I work, and having an inspected kitchen to do my work in any time has been exactly what my spice business has needed to get off the ground!

frequently asked questions

Yes. If you have been researching the internet, you know how confusing food regulations can be. Each category of food has different requirements and depending on how it is sold, there are exceptions to every requirement. It is impossible to list all of the variables here…come and see us and lets talk about your specific situation.
Frontier Kitchen does not have hourly or single-use rental options. Our mission is to build strong companies so all of our memberships have contract terms of at least 6 months.
No, we don’t do hard sells. Some products and ideas need more development before they are ready to go to sale…and we will tell you when we think that is your case. Other companies are already too large for us! Not every product and company is a good fit in a shared environment like Frontier Kitchen and that is OK. We want our members to be happy here.
Frontier Kitchen is careful about our culture…we foster cooperation over competition. All of our businesses are small–fighting with each other just inhibits growth. Besides, no two people make the same dish the same way…so having more than one cupcake maker just means more cupcakes (yeah, more cupcakes!). Everyone eats. There is enough room in the market for everyone to thrive with the right direction and dedication. We can provide the direction.
Nope, not at all. Entrepreneurs require a variety of experience in order to succeed…analysts, marketers, plumbers, electricians, Moms and more all have valuable experience that will contribute to making your business succeed. If you haven’t been a chef or worked in a kitchen before, we can teach you how to use commercial equipment and operate in a professional environment. If you are a chef that has never been a business owner before…we can help you, too.
When you come in for a tour of Frontier Kitchen we will show you around the facilities and ask you about your company. We are simply trying to figure out if we are the best organization to help you achieve what you want from your company–whether that is work your way into your very own storefront or restaurant or sell your products across the country. Every company is unique and every individual has unique dreams. While you are on tour, it is our chance to evaluate you, too. We are looking to see if you will be a good fit into our community and if we are the right people to help you.

Our rates are very competitive (often 1/2 the price of our competition), but we don’t publish our rates. This isn’t a wish to hide anything, but rather to avoid setting unrealistic expectations. Our rates are based on your needs; time, equipment, stage of company. Each package is individualized and training courses (if necessary) may be recommended for the health of your company. Our mission is always to give you what you need to make your company successful.

No, we do not require equity in your company. You do not have to pay for advice or questions. Our mission is to help you succeed–the more you want to learn and are open to coaching, the more likely that will happen.

Unlike most kitchens, we do not have written applications as we prefer to meet you in person and see if we are the best organization to help you. We assess our ability to help you while we give you a tour of the facility. So contact us today! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
